Plumfield Explorers
Nature Journal Club
Taught by Greta & Jack Masarik, Plumfield Nature Journal Club is offered once a month and is designed for students ages 6+ who want to learn and practice the art of observing, drawing, and painting in a nature journal. Each session meets in advance of that month's Plumfield Explorers' gathering. While participants are not required to be members of the Explorers program, each class will draw its theme from that month's Explorer topic.
Cost:
- One-Time Fee: $10 per participant for the Nature Journal Kit (unless the student already has a Plumfield Explorers Kit)
- $15 per family per class participation fee
Middle Grade Book Clubs
Cost: $15 per Family per Club
Shire Summer Classes
Shire Quilting Club
The quilting club will be offered on the first Fridays of each month. We will take a year to sew a quilted wall hanging. The theme of the quilt is “The Seasons”. The finished quilt top will contain 12 blocks, three blocks for each of the four seasons.
Although the club members are welcome to attend ALL first-Friday classes, participants are only required to attend one class per quarter. New fabric bundles will be given out each season.
Cost - $55/kit - NON-REFUNDABLE as materials are pre-purchased. Each family may purchase as many kits as they would like for their students to do together or separately.
Kit Includes:
- Four Seasonal Bundles of quilting fabric
- Cotton Batting (inner layer)
- Cotton Backing Fabric
- Bias Tape for binding
- Notions Bag - milliner Needles, marking tools, thread, wonder clips, pins, seam roller, leather thimble and scissors
There will be enough notions and fabric for multiple family members to work on one kit together.
Suggested Age Level - 8+ (younger students might find this frustrating, but the only stitching required is a straight and back stitch)
